DAY TOURS FROM DUBLIN

Single Day Site Seeing

Here’s some of our favourites

DAY TRIP TO GLENDALOUGH

This is one of our most popular tours. We hit the road and head south to the county of Wicklow. Then we will visit the ancient monastic site at Glendalough. It has a wonderful history but is also one of the most scenic valleys in Ireland and the perfect place to walk around and explore. Afterwards there are many options –  we could check out the highest waterfall in Ireland, Powerscourt Waterfall or even go whiskey tasting at the Powerscourt Distillery.

But no trip to Glendalough is complete without lunch and a pint at the highest pub in Dublin, Johnny Foxes. The food there is phenomenal, and they have an excellent pint of Guinness!

This trip is a perfect way to see the Irish countryside without spending the entire day driving in a car.

NEWGRANGE AND TRIM CASTLE

If you want to go deeper into Ireland’s history then this is the tour for you. Newgrange is an ancient passage tomb which is over 5000 years old. There you can learn abou the pagan history of Ireland, and why we used these tombs. The tour also takes you inside the tomb itself following in the footsteps of the ancient Irish, where you will see our ancient artwork carved into the stone. It’s really breathtaking.

Afterwards we will check out the largest Norman Castle in Ireland, Trim Castle. It was used as the setting for the famous movie Braveheart, and there are a lot of different areas there to explore.

This is another great day out with minimal driving distance.

CLIFFS OF MOHER

No trip to Ireland is complete without visiting the majestic Cliffs of Moher. Sitting over 700 feet high, these cliffs offer a dramatic and rugged view of the Irish coastline, and the Atlantic Ocean.

This is a great day out, you get to enjoy the Cliffs, as well as the bizarre and barren landscape of the Burren in County Clare. We will also make sure to stop in for some of the best seafood in ireland in one of our favourite places, and maybe find a pint or two along the route home.

This is a long day that runs around 10 hours.

TITANIC, TROUBLES AND BELFAST

Belfast is another city which is accessible from Dublin and if you are into your history, it’s a fantastic city to visit. The Titanic Museum is a really interesting experience and well worth seeing. We can also learn about the troubles, which was a 30-year period of violence which occurred in the country and the scars are still visible today. We can tour through the Protestant and Catholic areas and see some of the Peace Walls which still separate the communities to this day.

Also if the Titanic isn’t your thing, there is also the Game of Thrones Experience, which has some original sets from the TV show and is a lot of fun to visit.

There is a lot of variety to this day with a medium amount of driving.

HOWTH CLIFF WALK AND MALAHIDE CASTLE

You can also spend a couple of hours walking along the cliffs. Howth is a gorgeous seaside town and famous for its seafood. And no trip is complete without a pint at O’Connells! Afterwards we can tour Malahide Castle, which dates back to 1200, and was a private home for 800 years. The gardens are beautiful and the castle itself is well worth touring.

KiLKENNY AND DUNAMASE

Kilkenny is a famous city in Ireland which was founded by the vikings, and to this day has many small, winding alleys that date back to medieval times. Kilkenny Castle is well worth a visit and if you like ales, Smithwicks Distillery offers a great tour and is in the centre of the city.

On the way there we will stop into Dunamase which is a castle in ruins, and was the site where the Irish first invited the Normans into Ireland. These ruins are less visited and offer some great things to explore. Be sure to watch out for the murder holes!
